Creative Arts Therapies - OVERVIEW

The creative arts therapies are a highly adaptive and specialized form of therapeutic intervention. They extend the talking therapies into the realms of creative expression: a deep and meaningful place at the core of human potential. Creative Arts Therapists include professional Dramatherapists, Art Therapists / Art Psychotherapists, Music Therapists and Dance / Movement Therapists. Hiraeth also includes Circus (CITCAT), Environmental Arts and Play Approaches. All creative arts therapists attend professional supervision in order to maintain professional excellence.

Individuals inevitably bring aspects of themselves and their lives through the context of their play and creativity. This can be worked with to allow them to develop balance between feelings, thoughts, behaviours and sensations within the context of their lives.

Clients consistently reflect the importance of a positive and communicative therapeutic relationship where they feel heard, important, validated, supported, empowered, confident, safe, secure, comforted, equal and the expert on themselves.

Delivery: The Creative Arts Therapies can be used with individuals, groups or even as a ‘drop-in’ service. Contact Hiraeth for more information.

A NOTE ON HEALTH AND SAFETY

"The Creative Arts Therapies help to promote a sensible safety culture in which risk is managed as a life-skill and not a constricting set of rules. Through the Creative Arts Therapies people can be encouraged to explore their own possibilities and experience how they can control areas of life such as risk (October, 2007)."
